James Thomas O'Connor was born on 26 October 1930 in Geelong, Victoria.1 
He married Veronica Parkinson on 14 November 1969.2 
He died on 29 December 2009 in Yarrawonga, Victoria, at age 79.3

Story

James Thomas was born in Geelong on 26 October, 1930. He was the oldest child of Veronica and Thomas. He was known as Jim.4,5
 
His parents, Thomas O'Connor and Vera O'Loghlen, came from families which had been in Geelong since 1841.

After attending the Lethbridge State School and St Joseph's College, Geelong, he studied at the University of Melbourne where he graduated as a Bachelor of Commerce.

He spent his working life in the Australian Public Service - in the Departments of Customs, Prime Minister and Cabinet and Social Security, retiring in 1986 as Deputy Head of The Department of Social Security.

He was awarded the OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List of 1982 and now lives in retirement at 1/22 Burrawan Street, Port Macquarie. ['The O'Loughlins', 1997]4
 
Marriage
Veronica Parkinson and James Thomas O'Connor were married on 14 November 1969.2
 
Family History Research
Jim did extensive research on the O'Loughlins, in both Australia and Ireland. This culminated in two self-published publications, A Footprint: Relating to the history of people called O'Connor, O'Loghlen, Lloyd, Lynch and O'Loughlin (1995) and The O'Loughlins (1997).5,6,7,8
