Pauline Jean was probably born in Preston on 19 December 1924. She was the oldest child of Doris 'Nene' and Kenneth. The birth uncertainty is due to conflicting evidence. Pauline said she was born in Northcote in 1924. Her mother said she was born in Melbourne but not Northcote/Westgarth. Her daughter Pam had said she was born in 1925.
