Kathleen Maude Keane was born in 1916 in St Kilda, Victoria.1 
She married Daniel Phillips, son of John Phillips and Ellen O'Loughlin, in 1939 in Tatura, Victoria.2,3 
She died on 6 October 1996.4

Kathleen Maude was born in St Kilda in 1916. She was the child of John and Sarah. She was known as Bub or Bubs.1,5,4
 
Marriage
Kathleen Maude Keane and Daniel Phillips were married in Tatura, Victoria in 1939. They had no children.6,2
 
The only photo we have with both Danny and Bub was taken before they married.

The couple remained in Tatura, though they moved several times: from Hogan St, to Thompson St, to Alexander Ave, and finally to Gowrie St.7,8,9,10
 
Danny served in the Second World War from February 1942 to October 1944.11
 
As next of kin, he gave wife Kathleen. The address given was originally PO Tatura. It was later changed to 44 Lang St, South Yarra, the home of her brother Michael James Keane. In February 1943, it was changed to c/o Mrs A Gregory, 1A Moodie St, Carnegie, Victoria. This was two weeks after Danny had been AWL for five days from Camp Pell in Melbourne.11,12
 
Danny returned from New Guinea once for leave. He was home for all of April 1944.11
 
After the war, Danny returned to hairdressing (and SP bookmaking) in Tatura.

In later years, he and Bub kept in touch with brothers Tom and Joe in Shepparton, and other family who visited the area.13
 
He had a shop at the western end of what is now (2020) the Tatura Hotel in Hogan St. This was next to a laneway [perhaps of benefit to punters].14,15,16
 
Joe, Vera, Dan and Bub, Counter Lunch
... and every Thursday at lunch time you would see Vera and Joe turn up at lunch time [in Tatura] in their big green car, and Bub and Dan would go and have a counter lunch.Joe always in his suit and hat. I worked three shops up from Uncle Dan's so saw him every day, and when Pat [Redden] and I got engaged, I would have lunch with Bub once a week. [Moyna Redden]14
 
Kathleen Maude 'Bub' Phillips died on 6 October 1996, aged 80. She was buried at Tatura cemetery with husband Danny.4
