Arthur was studying to become a minister in Melbourne, but took ill so in 1905 he moved to the drier climate of the Cobram area. He selected land near Berrigan and Lottie and her parents subsequently moved to Cobram too.7
 
Elizabeth Anne (Lizzy) Dalgleish and Arthur Frederick Steer were married in 1913. They had two children.4

Arthur and Lizzy lived at Daisy Plains, Berrigan.4
 
Lizzy died a few days after Ralph's birth. Some time later, Arthur leased his farm and moved to Melbourne, where he cared for his sons with the help of a housekeeper.4
 
Millicent Sutcliffe and Arthur Frederick Steer were married in 1926. They had five children.8,4
